Artificial intelligence: Smartness in Technology

Artificial Intelligence gets smarter

Machine learning algorithms are being integrated into analytics and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms to help businesses improve their customer service. Websites now integrate chatbots to provide customers with rapid assistance. The rapid advancement of generative AI technologies, such as ChatGPT, is expected to have far-reaching consequences, including job losses, product design revolutions, and business model disruptions.

AI has long been considered as a potential threat to jobs that rely on repetitive and dull work. The focus has primarily been on robots and other AI tools taking on the tasks of 'doers' such as manufacturing workers or tele callers. With AI becoming smarter by the day, it is now possible to imagine a future in which AI could threaten bosses' jobs as well, and bosses must be aware of the potential of AI tools to render their roles redundant.

Executives are becoming more comfortable with chatbots that perform a variety of human duties, like addressing staff questions, communicating with candidates during the recruitment process, and presenting options to clients during the decision-making process, to mention a few. Companies such as 7-Eleven and Uniqlo use AI solutions such as Percolata to understand the true tie productivity of its employees in the retail environment, allowing them to maximise sales from footfalls. Several call centers use systems like Cogito to increase employee productivity by providing timely inputs and monitoring their performance.

Amazon may utilize AI tools to direct work at each of its warehouses and supervise employees in order to maximise efficiency. Online mobility platforms such as Ola and Uber have created a new business model by enlisting the help of algorithms and computers to address all aspects of the business fulfilment process for customers, administrators, and service providers. Cyrano.ai is another excellent example of how AI is combining neurolinguistics with stakeholder profile to develop tailored solutions based on empathy.

Extending these experiences and learnings to the domain of supervisors, AI can use analytics to take over regular administrative activities, report creation, and rule-based decision-making. Would this imply that AI would replace the bosses? Dictador, a Polish spirits and beverage corporation Mika was unveiled as its new CEO bot, and NetDragon Websoft, a Chinese game firm, introduced Tang Yu, an AI bot, as CEO. It is too early to predict how such initiatives will affect the business.

Adoption of AI tools in place of people is still in its early stages. Humans' strongest suit would always be emotional intelligence, and leaders would continue to serve as the link between AI and the team. Leaders would be able to achieve their objectives in a favorable workplace environment. However, not all leaders have the ability to connect with their staff and unify around common goals. AI tools would gain the ability to assist leaders with sensitivity analysis of the work environment by examining the moods of employees.

As a result, the job of supervisors would be changed, with leaders' primary attention shifting from managing human behavior to managing AI systems. To avoid becoming obsolete in this ever-changing landscape, managers must learn the necessary abilities to adapt to AI and reimagine their professions.
